Lorneville Plant

Background

In 2018, NuGreen assessed the slaughter board at Alliance Group’s Lorneville Processing Plant for an LED lighting upgrade. The review identified light levels below compliance standards and existing wiring that was unsuitable for reuse.

NuGreen Solution

NuGreen proposed a full redesign of both the lighting and wiring systems. Working alongside Nind’s Contracting and using ENVIVO’s 3D laser scanning technology, accurate site plans were developed to support the redesign.

These plans were provided to Alliance as “as-built” documentation and have since supported other capital upgrade projects. The updated lighting layout optimised luminaire placement over task-critical areas, achieving higher light levels with 15% fewer fittings.

The Results

The new system delivers a 15-year solution life, compared to the legacy system which required annual maintenance to maintain compliance.

Performance improvements included average light level increases of 30%, with some areas reaching up to 200%, along with energy savings of 64%.

When we came back from our short maintenance shutdown the lighting project had been completed. I walked around the site for the first time and it was like night and then day, it’s amazing what proper lighting has done for this area. It was a real moral boost for our team to, they felt their onsite Health and Safety needs were being met and a much brighter space to work in.
