Stride – 16 Wickham Street, Hamilton
Background
16 Wickham Street, Hamilton is a design-build development by NZ Strong for Stride Property and tenant Wattyl. The building was designed to achieve Green Star 5 certification, with sustainability embedded across construction and operation. A solar energy system was required to offset the building’s base-load energy demand and contribute to the project’s overall sustainability performance score.
NuGreen Solution
NuGreen provided full end-to-end solar design, engineering, and installation services, working closely with Stride Property and NZ Strong throughout the build programme. The solution comprised 210 Trina Solar panels on the rooftop connected to a 110 kW SMA inverter integrated into the main switchboard (MSB). The system was designed to offset base-load operating requirements and support the Green Star 5 certification targets.
The Results
- Solar system delivered on time and on budget.
- Annual energy savings of 137,200 kWh and $20,580 achieved.
- Green Star 5 certification requirements met.
- Installation supplies clean, renewable energy to site – reducing operational carbon emissions for Stride Property and Wattyl.
